After a long disappearance, the Newton BIA is excited to bring back the historic tradition of Newton Days this summer! The days will consist of two weekly events, ‘Nooner Wednesdays’ and ‘Troubadour Saturdays’.
The inaugural event begins this Saturday June 4th with ‘Troubadour Saturdays’ featuring live music acts at two locations on 137th street here in the Newton Town Centre. Troubadour is a great excuse to get out of the house and enjoy the sun while enjoying a coffee or lunch from one of the many restaurants located in the area. Have a seat at the bright pink Park-it in front of BBQ Nation and enjoy some music or head over to Espresso Café where there will be another live musician and play a game of chess at the giant size board. While you’re wandering around from place to place, take a look at the many shops along 137th to see what your local businesses have to offer. Troubadour is every Saturday from 12 pm – 4 pm!
Ever wondered what that office down the hall does exactly? Do you see the same people going to the same coffee shop as you but you have never said a word to one another? Come out to ‘Nooner Wednesdays’ and meet these people! The event begins June 8th from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm and will continue on every Wednesday after that at the Park-It in front of BBQ Nation on 137th street. Socialize and meet new people while enjoying lunch outside soaking in the beautiful summer weather. The Park-it will also feature a piano provided by Pianos on the Street, so feel free to try your hand at playing some tunes! BYOL (bring your own lunch) every Wednesday!
The Newton BIA is focused on creating events like these to engage the local community and encourage people to come out and enjoy the neighbourhood they live in. These great positive activities and events are a great way to get together with the community, get to know your neighbours, and get to know your local businesses. These are free events, so come on out every week, meet people, listen to music, and look out for pop-up guests and activities weekly!
